On 14 August 2025 Coinbase said it had closed the Deribit acquisition, calling Deribit the #1 crypto options exchange by volume and open interest with roughly $60B open interest and a record July 2025 month exceeding $185B in volume. Messari and other deal trackers had framed the 2025 agreement as a ~$2.9B transaction. Deribit continues as Coinbase’s options franchise within a combined spot, futures, perpetuals, and options platform.
