Router Protocol sets a September 2026 full shutdown and ROUTE burn
Router Protocol announced a gradual wind-down culminating in a full shutdown by 30 September 2026. The team said two years of scarce Web3 liquidity, a market shift toward AI, cooler cross-chain demand, and bridging revenue that no longer covered operating costs forced the decision after commercialization, licensing, and acquisition efforts failed. It pledged to burn 303,333,198 treasury ROUTE tokens, work with centralized exchanges on delistings, avoid new ROUTE programs, and release selected engineering components as open source.
