About the Role
Oath is building AI that transforms the audit industry. We're looking for an accounting/audit professional who can operate across three fronts at once: bringing clients onto our platform and making them successful, executing the verification and audit procedures that keep our work defensible, and partnering with engineering and product to turn what you know into AI systems that meet professional and regulatory expectations.
This isn't a traditional audit role. You won't spend your days grinding through workpapers in isolation. You'll be the connective tissue between clients, the audit work itself, and the product being built to scale it — reviewing outputs, validating documentation, identifying gaps, and shaping the workflows and prompts that let AI do audit work well.
This is an early employee role at a startup. Expect to take on a wide range of tasks, some outside your core expertise. We're looking for problem solvers who get energized by hard, ambiguous challenges and push through them rather than waiting for a clean brief.
Responsibilities
Client onboarding & customer success
- Onboard new clients onto the Oath platform, guiding them through setup, workflows, and first engagements.
- Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients on methodology questions and platform usage.
- Help clients interpret AI-generated work product and build confidence in the platform over time.
- Identify friction in the onboarding experience and feed it back into product improvements.
Verification & audit procedure execution
- Execute verification and audit procedures directly, ensuring engagements meet professional standards.
- Review and validate AI-generated audit procedures, workpapers, and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify gaps, errors, inconsistencies, and edge cases in AI-generated audit outputs before they reach clients.
- Track professional standards (GAAS, PCAOB, IAASB) and ensure both your work and AI outputs stay current with them.
Building AI-driven solutions with engineering & product
- Partner closely with engineering and product to translate audit expertise into AI accuracy, reliability, and audit-awareness — you're a primary source of ground truth for the model.
- Build quality review frameworks, checklists, and methodologies purpose-built for AI-assisted audits.
- Establish continuous feedback loops so AI performance improves with every engagement.
- Document best practices and build out our internal knowledge base as the team scales.
Qualifications
- 2–6 years of audit or related experience with a foundation in audit methodology.
- General familiarity with the audit process or related functions such as IT audits and financial management.
- Experience applying that background outside a traditional audit environment (industry, consulting, innovation roles, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail — you catch what others miss.
- Comfort working with technology, AI tools, and iterative, fast-changing workflows.
- Excellent written communication; you can document a judgment call so someone else can follow your reasoning.
- Strong client-facing skills — comfortable onboarding clients, fielding questions, and building trust directly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience using AI tools to improve audit or analytical work.
- Strong, well-reasoned opinions about inefficiencies or gaps in traditional audit practice.
- A track record of designing processes, templates, checklists, or systems that others actually adopted.
- Experience in a startup or other fast-paced, unstructured environment.
Compensation & Work Environment
- Salary plus equity.
- Fully remote, with flexibility on how and when you work.
- High ownership and direct influence over product, methodology, and the future of audit automation — your judgment calls become the system's judgment calls.
