Commercial Counsel
IEX is looking for a Commercial Counsel to join our legal team. In this role, you will be reporting directly to our Associate General Counsel and will act as a key resource and primary point of contact for our business teams, with a primary focus on commercial contracting and employment-related matters. You should have experience negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, handling employment matters, providing business focused advice directly to business teams, and exercising strong judgment with a high level of integrity. You will play a central role in supporting day-to-day operations.
This job is a hybrid role located in the New York office.

What you’ll do:
Commercial Contracts
- Act as the primary legal point of contact for commercial contracting across the business
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including customer agreements, vendor agreements and non-disclosure agreements
- Develop and improve contract templates, playbooks and processes to drive efficiency and consistency
- Partner closely with business stakeholders to structure agreements and provide practical, risk-based advice
- Manage contract lifecycle processes and support scaling of contracting function
Employment and HR Support
- Advise on a broad range of employment matters, including hiring, terminations, performance management, and employee relations
- Draft and update employment agreements, offer letters, separation agreements and related documentation
- Support development and maintenance of employment policies and employee handbooks
- Partner with HR on compliance with applicable labor and employment laws
- Assist with internal personnel matters as needed
AI & Technology Implementation
- Advise on legal and regulatory issues related to the implementation and use of AI and emerging technologies
- Support the ongoing development of internal AI governance frameworks, policies, and controls
- Stay current on evolving legal and regulatory developments impacting AI, fintech, and data usage
General Legal Support
- Act as a key resource and primary point of contact for IEX business teams in need of legal assistance
- Provide legal guidance on day-to-day business operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, Compliance, Finance and Technology
- Support internal policy development and implementation
- Support special projects and strategic initiatives as needed
Your background:
- 4+ years of experience as a practicing attorney in large law firm and/or in-house legal department
- Strong experience in commercial contracts and employment law matters
- Proven ability to successfully manage multiple complex projects with competing deadlines
- Business-minded, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented
- Law degree (JD) from accredited law school
- NY Bar membership required

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting annual base pay is between $175,000 and $190,000 for this NY-based position. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The annual base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for bonus and equity.
