We are seeking an experienced MLRO / Principal Officer to lead the AML/CFT and financial crime compliance framework for a digital asset payments business operating in India.

The role will serve as the designated Principal Officer under applicable Indian AML requirements, with responsibility for regulatory reporting, AML governance and engagement with FIU-IND.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the designated Principal Officer / MLRO, overseeing compliance with the PMLA, PML Rules and applicable FIU-IND requirements.
• Own and maintain the AML/CFT/CPF framework, including policies, risk assessments, transaction monitoring and supporting controls.
• Oversee regulatory reporting to FIU-IND, including STR, CTR and other applicable filings.
• Oversee KYC/KYB, CDD/EDD, sanctions screening and customer risk frameworks.
• Oversee financial crime controls relating to fiat and virtual digital asset flows, including blockchain analytics and Travel Rule requirements.
• Serve as the primary AML/CFT contact for FIU-IND and relevant authorities, including regulatory inspections and enquiries.
• Provide AML reporting to senior management and relevant governance bodies, and coordinate audits, reviews and remediation activities.

Mandatory Requirements

• 8–10 years of relevant experience, including significant experience in AML/CFT, financial crime or regulatory compliance in India.
• Strong working knowledge of PMLA, PML Rules and FIU-IND requirements.
• Hands-on experience with FIU-IND reporting and FINnet, including STR/CTR filings.
• Meet all applicable fit and proper requirements for appointment as Principal Officer / MLRO, including appropriate integrity, competence, experience and regulatory standing.
• Qualify as an officer at management level for the purposes of appointment as Principal Officer under applicable PML Rules.
• Based in India and able to engage directly with FIU-IND and other relevant authorities.

Preferred

• Prior experience as a Principal Officer, MLRO, Compliance Officer or equivalent regulated role.
• Experience within payments, fintech, banking or digital assets, with VDA/crypto experience strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with blockchain analytics, sanctions, KYC/CDD and transaction monitoring.
• Relevant AML certification such as CAMS.
