As digital assets and on-chain finance become a larger part of modern capital markets, Cannon Ventures is expanding its DeFi investment capabilities to identify sustainable yield opportunities and build institutional-grade on-chain strategies.
About the Role
We are looking for a sharp, execution-focused DeFi Yield Strategist to design, test, and manage yield-generating strategies across decentralized finance protocols.
This role is for someone who understands that yield is not just APY on a dashboard. You know how to evaluate real risk-adjusted returns, account for token incentives, liquidity depth, smart contract exposure, and market regime changes. You have hands-on experience deploying and actively managing capital on-chain, and you can clearly explain why a strategy works — and when it no longer does.

What You'll Do
- Design and execute DeFi yield strategies across lending, liquidity provision, liquid staking, restaking, and structured vault products
- Evaluate opportunities by risk-adjusted return, not headline APY
- Monitor protocol health, liquidity conditions, emissions schedules, governance changes, and smart contract risk
- Manage active allocations across chains and protocols with clear portfolio construction rules
- Build and maintain performance tracking: gross/net yield, impermanent loss impact, drawdowns, and attribution
- Stress-test strategies under different market scenarios (volatility spikes, liquidity shocks, depeg events)
- Produce weekly and monthly strategy reports for the internal investment team
- Collaborate with Cannon Ventures’ broader investment team on market intelligence and early-stage DeFi opportunities
What We’re Looking For
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in digital asset investing, portfolio strategy, or active DeFi operations
- Demonstrated hands-on experience managing capital across major DeFi protocols
- Strong understanding of lending markets, AMMs, LP mechanics, incentives, and tokenomics
- Practical knowledge of protocol and smart contract risk frameworks
- Familiarity with major ecosystems: Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Solana (or equivalent)
- Experience with on-chain analytics tools (Dune, Nansen, DefiLlama, Arkham, DeBank, etc.)
- Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and make decisions in fast-moving markets
- Python / SQL or similar data skills for tracking and reporting are a strong plus
- Formal degree is welcome but not required; proven execution and judgment matter most
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $95,000 – $145,000/year (based on experience and strategy track record)
