About This Role in the Team

We are seeking an experienced Deputy MLRO (DMLRO) to join our Financial Crime team in the UK.

The DMLRO will support the MLRO in maintaining, executing, and overseeing the firm’s Anti-Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, Counter-Proliferation Financing, and Sanctions frameworks.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

  • Financial Crime Framework: Ensure the firm’s operational AML/CFT controls fully comply with UK regulation and industry guidelines.
  • Business Risk Assessment: Assist the MLRO in conducting the Business-Wide Risk Assessment (BRA) and maintaining the firm's Financial Crime Risk Register.
  • Regulatory Reporting: Assist in gathering quantitative and qualitative financial crime data for the submission of regulatory reporting, including the FIAU Risk Evaluation Questionnaire (REQ).
  • New Product Reviews: Provide SME input into the new product development and assessment process.
  • Oversight: Support periodic quality assurance checks on relevant financial crime controls.
  • Internal SAR Evaluation: Review, analyze, and investigate internal Suspicious Activity Reports (iSARs) escalated by operational teams and the wider business.
  • NCA Reporting: Assist the MLRO in drafting, logging, and submitting Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to the NCA.
  • Law Enforcement Liaison: Manage statutory Information Requests, Production Orders, and Account Freezing Orders issued by law enforcement agencies, including the NCA and HMRC.
  • High-Risk File Sign-Off: Conduct secondary reviews and provide compliance recommendations on Enhanced Due Diligence cases for complex legal entities, Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), high-net-worth individuals, and high-risk commercial verticals.

What We Need From You

  • Industry Experience: Direct, hands-on AML/CFT experience within a UK-regulated entity (preferably EMI, VASP or other fintech).
  • UK Regulatory Knowledge: Deep operational familiarity with the UK legal and regulatory framework.
  • Ideally, you will have an internationally recognised financial crime qualification such as the ICA or ACAMS.
