The Department: Compliance
The Compliance Team at Gemini is dedicated to managing the next generation of financial crime prevention in a complex and evolving regulatory environment. We are a diverse group of technology, legal, compliance, and operational professionals who develop new approaches to solving classic problems using cutting edge tools and processes.
The Role:Manager, Compliance (Banking & Lending)
In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert across consumer financial protection laws and regulations, issue management and remediation, regulatory testing, and complaint management. You will play a leading role in operating and enhancing Gemini’s Compliance Management System (CMS) to support products that put customers first while meeting applicable regulatory requirements and partner-bank expectations. You will work with the Head of Compliance in managing a multitude of processes, including issue management & resolution, testing, complaint management, product compliance, and governance. You’ll advise business partners and oversee compliance for the Gemini Credit Card, Gemini Business Credit Card, and future products in banking and lending.
The ideal candidate has deep experience in consumer financial compliance at a credit card company, FinTech or financial services company. A strong understanding of consumer financial protection laws and their implementing regulations laws such as ECOA, TILA, UDAAP, FCRA, along with their accompanying regulations, is required. The Compliance Manager has a strong aptitude for organization, applying laws, regulations, and guidance to real-world product and operational scenarios as well as collaborating with cross-functional business owners, and fostering a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise, coach, and develop junior compliance team members supporting product compliance, complaint management, testing, governance, and related CMS activities.
- Act as a primary compliance contact and liaison among Gemini department heads, senior management, and partner-bank stakeholders.
- Drive the development, execution, and validation of remediation and testing plans for compliance issues, audit findings, examination findings, and control gaps, including root-cause analysis, corrective action plans, process updates, documentation, and training.
- Review and advise on marketing materials, customer communications, disclosures, promotions, and related campaigns to assess compliance with applicable laws, regulations, partner-bank requirements, and internal policies.
- Lead the design and implementation of compliance risk assessment frameworks that provide independent, risk-based evaluations of regulatory compliance risks and control effectiveness.
- Provide timely, practical, and risk-based compliance guidance to product, operations, and business teams on applicable laws, regulations, policies, and controls.
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, product, and business stakeholders to assess emerging regulations, product developments, and business objectives, ensuring coordinated and transparent support across departments.
- Draft and coordinate responses to customer and regulatory complaints, including complaints received through the CFPB, FDIC, partner banks, or other applicable channels.
- Lead or support responses to audits, partner-bank reviews, regulatory examinations, reporting requirements, and compliance assessments.
- Monitor operational processes and procedures to assess compliance with applicable laws, regulations, partner-bank requirements, and Gemini’s CMS policies.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance, and assess the compliance impact of changes to product and service offerings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 6+ years of experience in regulated financial services, fintech, banking, lending, or credit card compliance, with a focus on consumer financial services compliance.
- Thorough understanding of lending and credit products, compliance management systems, and applicable laws, regulations, and guidance, including UDAAP, TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, FCRA/Reg V, EFTA/Reg E, SCRA, GLBA, and, where applicable, TISA/Reg DD and BSA/AML.
- Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to details.
- Proven ability to proactively, efficiently, and accurately assess compliance risks in a fast-paced environment.
- Track record of creative problem-solving and building trusted cross-functional relationships with Legal, Product, Operations, Risk, and business stakeholders.
- Ownership mindset, sound judgment, and enthusiasm for building scalable, technology-enabled compliance processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting credit card, banking-as-a-service, partner-bank, embedded finance, or fintech lending programs.
- Experience with regulatory examinations, partner-bank audits, CFPB complaint responses, compliance testing, issue remediation, and issue validation.
- Familiarity with fair lending, marketing compliance, servicing, collections, disputes, adverse action, credit reporting, vendor oversight, and complaint management.
- CRCM, CAMS, or similar compliance certification preferred but not required.

Salary Range:
The base salary range for this role is between $129,500 - $185,000 in the State of New York. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
In the United States, we offer a hybrid work approach at our hub offices, balancing the benefits of in-person collaboration with the flexibility of remote work. Expectations may vary by location and role, so candidates are encouraged to connect with their recruiter to learn more about the specific policy for the role. Employees who do not live near one of our hubs are part of our remote workforce.
