What you'll do
Act as the designated MLRO, with primary responsibility for the AML/CFT and suspicious activity reporting framework, ensuring the function is performed independently, effectively and in accordance with applicable Mauritius AML/CFT, FSC and FIU requirements.
- Act as the designated MLRO, independently assessing and reporting suspicious transactions/activities to the FIU Mauritius.
- Maintain independence, confidentiality and professional judgement, with direct access to the Board.
- Oversee AML/CFT controls covering KYC/CDD/EDD, sanctions, transaction monitoring and STR reporting.
- Ensure unrestricted access to relevant information and maintain complete, auditable records of MLRO decisions and investigations.
- Monitor AML/CFT regulatory developments and advise the Board and senior management.
- Lead AML/CFT risk assessments, compliance monitoring, incident management and remediation.
- Ensure the MLRO is free from commercial influence, conflicts of interest or interference.
- Act as the MLRO contact with the FIU, FSC, auditors and relevant stakeholders.
- Provide regular reporting to the Board on material AML/CFT risks, deficiencies and regulatory matters.
- Perform additional duties only where they do not compromise MLRO independence or statutory responsibilities.
- Ensure appropriate AML/CFT training and awareness is provided to relevant employees
What you'll need
- Mauritius resident with strong practical knowledge of FIAMLA, FIAML Regulations, FSC AML/CFT requirements and FIU reporting.
- Relevant professional qualification in AML/CFT, compliance, finance, law or financial services.
- Relevant experience in investment dealing, securities, banking or regulated financial services, preferably 5 years, or at least 3 years with relevant AML/CFT professional certification such as ACAMS, ICA, FSI or equivalent.
- Strong practical knowledge of CDD/EDD, sanctions and PEP screening, transaction monitoring, STR investigations and AML/CFT risk assessments.
- Demonstrated independent judgement, analytical and investigative skills, including effective challenge and sound STR decision-making.
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with senior management, the Board, FSC and FIU Mauritius.
- Understanding of cross-border AML/CFT obligations relevant to the Group.
- Commitment to ongoing CPD and regulatory developments.
- Must satisfy all applicable FSC competency, fit-and-proper and MLRO appointment requirements.
- Perform other duties reasonably assigned by the Company.
