Responsibilities
As QA Team Lead, you’ll own quality across Utila’s product, for new features and for everything already in production. You’ll lead the QA team, set how we test and automate, and decide what “done” means before anything ships. It’s a system where a wrong result costs real money.
What you’ll own
- The quality strategy for new features and the existing product: what must be tested, at which layer, and what “done” means before a release.
- The QA team: hiring, coaching, workload, and reviewing test plans and automation. You stay close enough to the product to challenge a weak plan.
- The automation direction, building on our existing Go unit, integration and end-to-end suites. You decide what belongs in automation, what stays exploratory, and what becomes a release gate.
- How the team uses AI in test design, failure analysis and automation, including the standard for checking that output before it affects a release.
Requirements
- 5+ years in software QA, including 2+ years leading testers or owning quality for a product area.
- Experience with API testing tools and frameworks.
- A track record of setting test strategy as well as executing it.
- Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving skills. When something breaks, you find out why.
- Working knowledge of AI tools and experience applying them in testing and QA.
- Experience hiring and developing testers.
Strongly preferred
- Domain experience with digital assets.
- Hands-on work with automated end-to-end tests.
- Experience on a system where a wrong result costs real money or breaks a financial control.
- A product-oriented mindset: you think about how quality shows up for the customer.
