Impact
As a Risk Management Associate, you will play a critical role in managing risks associated with our trading activities while ensuring the timely delivery of strategic risk initiatives. You will bridge the gap between risk strategy and technical execution, coordinating projects that align with FalconX’s global objectives. Your expertise will help build robust in-house risk capabilities, ensuring FalconX maintains its competitive edge while safeguarding against market and operational risks.
ResponsibilitiesCore Risk Management:
- Risk Assessment & Analysis: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments specifically for derivatives products and crypto assets, proactively identifying potential vulnerabilities in trading strategies. You will analyze derivatives market trends, price movements, and regulatory developments to accurately assess their impact on the company's portfolio.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Develop and implement bespoke risk metrics and monitoring tools tailored to the derivatives portfolio to ensure accurate assessment of exposure. You will prepare detailed risk reports for senior management that highlight key exposures, trends, and performance metrics, ensuring complex concepts are communicated clearly.
- Stress Testing & Modeling: Perform rigorous stress tests on the portfolio to evaluate resilience under adverse market conditions and potential worst-case scenarios. You will also regularly review and refine risk models and methodologies to maintain their relevance and accuracy in a fast-changing market.
- Mitigation Strategies: Collaborate closely with traders and portfolio managers to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, such as hedging and diversification techniques specific to derivatives. You will evaluate and recommend risk-reducing trades to ensure optimal financial outcomes.
Technical Project Management:
- End-to-End Project Execution: Plan, execute, and oversee strategic risk management projects from inception to completion, ensuring they align with global risk strategies. You will define project scope, gather requirements, and establish strict timelines to ensure timely delivery of risk-related initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the primary bridge between the Risk team and other departments—specifically Product, Engineering, Trading, and Compliance. You will facilitate communication to ensure cohesive project execution and ensure that technical builds meet the specific needs of the Risk function.
- Process Automation & Technology: Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency by automating manual risk assessment and reporting procedures. You will evaluate and implement new technologies and tools that improve the effectiveness of the risk framework.
- Oversight & Delivery: Monitor project progress continuously, identifying potential execution risks early and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure success. You will provide technical oversight to project teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.

Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3–5+ years of experience in risk management or technical project management, preferably within financial services, fintech, or a financial services start-up.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of digital asset trading (spot & derivatives) and relevant risk management practices.
- Project Skills: Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate coordination between diverse departments.
- Attributes: Self-motivated, highly independent, and capable of maintaining a high level of accuracy in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, or R, with a focus on financial engineering. Experience with VBA or AppScript is a plus.
- Certifications: PMP certification or similar project management credentials.
Industry Context: Prior experience in the cryptocurrency market is advantageous.
Compensation
Base pay for this role is expected to be between $102,000 - $128,000 USD for New York City. This expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role will also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance-linked bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for a successful candidate will be determined based on a number of factors such as location, skillset, experience, and qualifications.
