About the Role
We are looking for a highly technical Product Manager with strong software engineering skills to own the definition, design, and delivery of our internal and external APIs. This role sits at the intersection of product, architecture, and engineering, and is critical to enabling scalable integrations with internal teams and external partners.
You will be responsible for defining API architecture, understanding the underlying system design and data models, and ensuring APIs meet both frontend and partner requirements. You will also lead the deployment and ongoing management of our API Gateway and related infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the API architecture across internal and external use cases
- Deeply understand the underlying system architecture, data models, and frontend requirements to design clean, scalable APIs
- Design, deploy, and manage an API Gateway, including security, authentication, rate limiting, and monitoring
- Act as the product owner for APIs, translating business and technical requirements into clear API specifications
- Write and maintain high-quality API documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger, guides, examples)
- Collaborate closely with backend, frontend, infrastructure, and security teams
- Interact directly with external partners, supporting integrations and gathering feedback
- Balance product thinking with hands-on execution, including writing and reviewing code when needed
- Define standards and best practices for API versioning, lifecycle management, and backward compatibility
Required Qualifications
- Strong background as a Technical Product Manager, Software Engineer, or Solutions Architect
- Proven experience designing and managing REST and/or GraphQL APIs
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices architectures, and data modeling
- Hands-on experience deploying and operating API Gateways (e.g., Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway, NGINX, etc.)
- Ability to read, write, and review production-level code
- Experience working with both internal stakeholders and external partners
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially for technical documentation
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cortex, or similar)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Experience defining APIs for fintech, blockchain, or data-heavy platforms
