BitMEX sets September 23 exchange closure
On 23 July 2026, BitMEX published an official notice that the board of HDR Global Trading Limited had decided to close the BitMEX Exchange following a strategic review. New account registrations stopped immediately. Risk limits that block new positions take effect 26 August 2026 at 04:00 UTC, with remaining positions force-closed by the 23 September 2026 Closure Time. After that point, exchange trading ends while users can still log in to view balances and withdraw; KYC’d balances left after the deadline incur a monthly maintenance fee.
