Why Now
We’re entering our most ambitious chapter yet. WalletConnect Pay is an end-to-end crypto and stablecoin payment method built on the world’s largest wallet network — already embedded in Stripe, Coinbase Commerce, Shopify, MoonPay, Shift4, and BitPay, with a landmark partnership with Ingenico bringing stablecoin payments to 40M+ terminals across 120+ countries.
APAC is one of the fastest-moving regions for stablecoin adoption, digital payments innovation, and regulatory clarity around blockchain-enabled finance. Markets like Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, and Southeast Asia are actively building the frameworks that will define how onchain payments go mainstream. We need a BD Lead on the ground who understands the APAC payments landscape, can build relationships with PSPs, acquirers, fintechs, and enterprises across the region, and can drive WalletConnect Pay adoption in markets where timing and trust matter
The Role
This is a strategic, market-facing role at the intersection of traditional payments and onchain infrastructure. You’ll lead adoption of WalletConnect’s payments stack across APAC, working with Payment Service Providers, acquirers, neobanks, custodians, fintech platforms, and enterprise payment innovators.
You won’t just close partnerships, you’ll help shape how blockchain integrates into the APAC payments ecosystem. This role blends strategic business development, ecosystem building, market intelligence, and product influence. You’ll be the regional expert who translates what’s happening on the ground into commercial opportunities and product insights.
You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, Legal, Marketing, and Global BD to bring new payment capabilities to market across the region. This is a high-ownership role where your insight, relationships, and execution directly influence company trajectory.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Partnerships & Revenue Growth
- Build and close high-impact partnerships with PSPs, acquirers, fintechs, neobanks, and enterprises across APAC.
- Develop a high-quality pipeline that drives measurable revenue and adoption in the region.
- Lead commercial negotiations and structure win-win agreements tailored to APAC market dynamics.
- Guide partners from initial discussions through integration and launch, coordinating with Engineering and Product to ensure successful delivery.

Market Development & Go-To-Market**
- Drive regional adoption of WalletConnect Pay partnering with Marketing to build awareness
- Represent WalletConnect at fintech and crypto industry events across the region including conferences, roundtables, and partner summits.
- Design pilot programmes and commercial frameworks with strategic partners that are adapted to local market conditions.
- Position WalletConnect as the bridge between fiat and onchain commerce in APAC’s most important markets.

Product & Ecosystem Influence**
- Serve as the APAC payments subject matter expert internally, feeding structured market insights into product roadmap decisions.
- Help shape capabilities across checkout flows, payout infrastructure, point-of-sale integrations, deposits, and funding flows based on what APAC partners and markets actually need.
- Identify region-specific use cases for blockchain-enabled payments and work with Product to prioritise them.

Market Intelligence & Regulatory Awareness**
- Monitor APAC payments trends, regulatory shifts, and evolving compliance frameworks across key markets (Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, Southeast Asia).
- Provide insights to leadership that influence global strategy and regional prioritisation.
- Identify emerging opportunities where regulatory clarity or market conditions create an opening for WalletConnect Pay.
RequirementsMust-Haves
- 7+ years in payments, fintech, or financial infrastructure with a strong APAC focus.
- Proven experience in partnerships, business development, or commercialisation — you’ve built and closed strategic deals in the region.
- Deep understanding of payment flows: acquiring, issuing, settlement, reconciliation, FX, KYC/AML, and regional regulatory frameworks.
- Strong existing network across the APAC payments ecosystem — PSPs, acquirers, fintechs, banks, or enterprise payment platforms.
- Ability to translate technical infrastructure into commercial value for partners who may not speak blockchain natively.
- Comfortable engaging with both traditional financial institutions and Web3-native companies.
- Entrepreneurial, self-directed, and comfortable operating across time zones in a globally distributed team.

Nice-to-Haves**
- Experience working with stablecoin or crypto payment infrastructure, on/off-ramps, merchant acceptance, or cross-border settlement.
- Background in a high-growth startup or scale-up environment where you’ve built a regional presence from early stages.
- Familiarity with Web3 ecosystems including wallets, DeFi, stablecoins, or blockchain infrastructure.
