Safe Software is looking for a fun-loving, talented DevOps Engineer who is interested in becoming part of one of the fastest growing data integration companies in the world! As a DevOps Engineer, you will help enable our teams to develop FME at a great velocity while maintaining a high quality product. We have an immediate opening and are excited to find the right candidate to join our team.

About The Team

On the DevOps team, we value providing fast development feedback, high uptime for our services, and highly efficient systems. We are responsible for architecting and maintaining a number of powerful infrastructure tools and pipelines that power FME development, as well as maintain many complex systems such as our CI/CD systems, Kubernetes clusters, internal developer tools, and the many automated services that maximize the efficiency of our developers and content creators. Ultimately, we enable our teams to develop FME at a great velocity while maintaining a high quality product.

What You'll Be Doing

As a DevOps II at Safe Software for FME, you will be contributing to the maintenance of infrastructure and pipelines that enable the development, testing, and delivery of FME. This includes, but not limited to…

  • Analyzing and Improving CI/CD Pipelines. Our CI/CD pipelines are very important for our developers, so we want to continuously improve our pipelines to provide faster feedback.
  • Scripting and Automations. As engineers, we pride ourselves on speed and efficiency. Since we produce FME builds on a daily basis, we need to make sure our pipelines are automated with scripts to allow repetition.
  • Monitoring and Updating Infrastructure. Using “infrastructure as code” principles, we continuously monitor and improve our infrastructure that supports our applications.
  • Cloud Optimization. On the DevOps team, we take pride in being able to explore and incorporate new industry technologies into our processes. We strive to ensure that our AWS usage costs do not grow unnecessarily, using monitoring to make cost-saving enhancements to our systems.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining software tools that aid our FME development teams.
  • Practicing Kanban style Agile Development with Jira
  • Researching and Learning new tools and technologies
  • Managing automation pipelines via Jenkins
  • Participate in team meetings to provide updates and report newly-identified issues
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Development teams in order to plan upcoming projects effectively
  • Utilizing Cloud Infrastructure for testing and development.

Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • 2-4 years of DevOps and Platform Engineering or related work experience
  • You are familiar with scripting languages such as Python, Powershell and/or Bash
  • Knowledge or experience with Docker and or Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge or experience with Cloud Platforms: Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure.
  • You have a working knowledge of databases and SQL.
  • You are self-motivated and proactive, with a strong desire to learn new tools and the latest technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment – you are not afraid of fast-paced change!
  • You are a critical thinker with a curious mind and a love for problem solving.
  • You embrace working in a team-oriented environment, and have a passion for helping others.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with CI/CD Tools or Platforms (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Experience with Kanban or other Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with different operating systems (e.g. MacOS, Ubuntu).
  • Experience with popular IDEs. (e.g. Visual Studio, VSCode)
  • Experience with A.I. Coding Agents. (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot)
